Creative Technologist

PLAYAR

Antwerpen

Full-time

Hybrid

We are PLAYAR

We build interactive experiences that people step into instead of scroll past. Mobile AR experience, XR headsets, Magic Mirrors in stores, Interactive web experiences, vending machines that come alive, photobooths powered by AI/AR, installations that make a crowd stop and stare.

We are a compact immersive studio based in Antwerp, and we punch well above our weight. Global brands like 2K Games, Netflix, Dior and Amazon trust us to turn ambitions into things you can touch, play, experience and share. We are also a Snapchat global AR partner. The work we produce reaches real audiences in physical spaces, across the web or on major social platforms.

We are currently looking for a FULL TIME:  CREATIVE TECHNOLOGIST

(3 DAYS IN-OFFICE, 2 DAYS REMOTE)

About the role

Two things matter most here. You build interactive digital experiences yourself, hands on in the code. And you can face a client: present a concept, explain a technical choice, and stay calm in the room when something needs solving on the spot. Most people are good at one of the two. We are looking for the person who is good at both.

That looks different every week. One week you are prototyping an AI pipeline. The next you are deep in Unity on a branded game, building an interactive web experience or helping out with an AR experience. Then you are configuring screens and sensors in our office, loading the van and driving to a venue to install and calibrate before doors open. Sometimes you are the face of PLAYAR on location, walking a client through what you built and why it works.

You will work closely with our creative and technical leadership on concept and direction. The interesting part of this job is the space between “here is the idea” and “here is the thing, working.” Sometimes you only get a direction, and you figure out the rest. And this role grows. As you take on more of the technical delivery, you take on more of the decisions that come with it: tooling, approach, how we build. You stay ahead of trends in content and technology, bringing fresh insights to the studio’s approach. If that sounds terrifying, this is not for you. If that sounds like the job you have been waiting for, keep reading.

What you will actually do

  • Build interactive digital experiences end to end: games, web experiences, physical installations, AI pipelines

  • Turn rough ideas into working prototypes fast, and turn them into things that survive contact with the public

  • Shift with the work: some months are heavy on installations, some on web or standalone games, some on AI experiments, sometimes you help on AR experiences

  • Prepare and configure hardware your builds run on: screens, sensors, cameras, kiosk setups

  • Occasionally travel on site to set up, calibrate and guide our experiences, in Belgium and beyond

  • Represent PLAYAR with clients and partners when needed

  • Use AI fluently across your whole workflow: coding, prototyping, tooling, problem solving

  • Own your part of every project, from first test to final handover

Our toolbox

This is what our projects run on. We do not expect mastery of all of it. Deep in two or three, fast and curious in the rest, is exactly the profile. None of these are dealbreakers. All of them make us smile.

  • Unity for games and installations

  • Web experiences: three.js, react three fiber, WebXR

  • AI in the product and workflow: AI agents,  generative APIs, image pipelines, real time models

  • Hardware and physical computing: cameras, sensors, screens, kiosk setups

  • Mobile and Social AR: Lens Studio, 8thWall or similar

  • 3D content: Blender

  • Adobe Suite

  • Computer vision and tracking: body and face tracking, depth cameras, camera calibration

  • TouchDesigner, physical computing and Unreal are welcome extras

Who you really are

  • You build things, not just talk about them

  • You take initiative and move without waiting to be told

  • You walk into unknown territory with confidence, learn whatever the project demands, and ship

  • AI is a natural extension of how you work, every day, across everything

  • You have a sharp eye for detail. The last 5 percent is where good becomes great, and you care about the last 5 percent

  • When something is yours, it is yours. You take responsibility and you deliver

  • Someone hands on. Comfortable with a keyboard, a screwdriver and a flight case

  • Someone who can hold their own in front of a client

An instinct for secure and privacy aware development runs through all of it. Our work stands in public spaces, points cameras at real people and carries major brand names, and we build like it.

Practical: you speak English, Dutch is a real plus, and you hold a driving license, because the van does not drive itself.

Honest note

Every project here is different from the last one. New tech, new constraints, new venue, new problems. If you want a role that looks the same in month twelve as in month one, this is not it. If that variety is exactly what you are missing, you will love it here.

Why join us

  • We are a small studio doing work most big agencies would kill for. Every new project raises the bar. You grow at the speed of the work, and here the work never repeats itself

  • You will work on projects people actually see, play and post about, for names like Lego, Dior, Samsung and Snapchat, in your portfolio from year one

  • You make real technical decisions and see your impact in a live space within weeks, not quarters. In a team this size there is nowhere to hide, and no ceiling either

  • Nobody here has time to micromanage you, and honestly, nobody wants to. You get autonomy, you own the result

  • Gear and tools: you cannot build cutting edge experiences on outdated hardware, so you will not have to. Headsets, sensors, machines, AI tooling: whatever the work demands, we make sure you have it

  • Benefits – the basics covered properly, so you can focus on the fun part:

  • A positive, inclusive and happy work environment
Flexible working conditions with 3 days in the office (Mon / Tue / Thu in Antwerp) and 2 remote working days
    A market conform salary
A laptop / smartphone data plan
    Monthly meal vouchers
    Hospitalization insurance package
26 vacation days (excluding national holidays)
Free coffee, drinks, (healthy) snacks, fruits
    Office lunches on us
A small but welcoming bunch of like-minded individuals
Fun team-building events, game nights and nights out together

How we hire

  • Apply: send something you built and a few lines on why this role fits you.

  • Intro call: 30 minutes, mutual fit check

  • Studio visit: interview, see the work, talk through a real project together

  • Offer

We keep the whole process under 4 weeks. You will always know where you stand.

Sounds like you?

Send us something you built, something you broke and fixed, or something you are weirdly proud of to jobs [at] playar [dot] com and tell us why this role has your name on it.

PLAYAR is an equal opportunities employer. We care about what you build and how you think, not where you come from.
